Get Ready for The Wandering Village
Stray Fawn Studio has officially announced the 1.0 release date for The Wandering Village, their Ghibli-inspired city builder. The game will fully launch on July 17 for PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. In addition, a Physical Collector’s Edition is on the way through a partnership with Serenity Forge, with pre-orders opening soon.
Set in a world plagued by toxic spores, The Wandering Village places players in charge of a small band of survivors who build a settlement on the back of a colossal creature known as Onbu. As the settlement’s leader, players must manage food, shelter, and entertainment while balancing production chains and navigating unpredictable climates. The bond with Onbu becomes a central choice—build a mutual relationship or exploit the creature’s resources for survival.
Since its Early Access debut in 2022, the game has steadily evolved with significant updates. A dedicated Story Mode now introduces quests, deeper lore, and a narrative-driven conclusion. New biomes like oceans and ruins expand exploration with fresh hazards and gameplay twists. The game’s economy has been reworked, improving villager roles and research mechanics, while optional hostility modifiers offer additional difficulty for seasoned players.
Additional updates have brought trading systems, parasites, new buildings, and Onbu interaction features. With full controller and Steam Deck support also in place, The Wandering Village 1.0 launch promises a rich and refined experience across all major platforms.
